It's the details in our black under dress shorts that make the Undersummers difference:
The Original Classic Shortlette is a better than bike short solution for wearing under dresses. We hear the comment all the time; I wear a bike short under my skirts and dresses. CarrieRae did too... for many years, however bike shorts are thick, hot, and have a bulky waist band. They are not a single layer solution without the cotton gusset. CarrieRae designed the Shortlette®️ to be a lightweight, cool, breathable solution that did not ride up or roll when wearing. This black thigh protection short is figure flattering, comfortable, and cute enough to show!

I have been wearing these for the last four years and I love them! I had a minor issue with a product once and customer service was prompt and responsive and resolved my issue easily and right away. Highly recommend!
I haven't had a chance to test these in the wild yet, but I've worn them around the house and love them. The legs don't ride up. The waste band doesn't roll down. They are soft and comfortable. I'm about 8-10 I got a medium and the fit is good. They are not tight and suffocating like slimmers. I'm happy and even more excited to wear these under my summer dresses.
So first off, I emailed about my size and they suggested an xl and they are a little baggy so I’m kinda bummed they don’t feel super secure. My other complaint is that when you walk and your thighs rub together they make noise. Obviously if you buy these more than likely your thighs touch each other when you walk so it really doesn’t make sense why they have fabric that would do this? But my thighs didn’t chafe while wearing them so I guess they did their job.
I have to admit, my Undersummers cost more than some of my dresses, but they are so worth it. In the past I've had "chub rub" that raised welts and blisters, and even the anti-chafing sticks made for serious runners didn't help. Not with Undersummers. And the materials are such good quality, I can't tell the ones I bought at the beginning of the season which have been washed many times from the ones I bought at the end of the season. The Classic is my favorite---I prefer the seams in the front (unlike the Athletic style with the seams in the back), and since it doesn't have lace I feel like it doesn't scream "Underwear!!" if my skirt flips in a windy parking lot.
These are the perfect under dress shorts if you don't want any of that compression nonsense. I even wear them around the house as shorts on really hot days! The fabric is silky so that dresses don't "stick" to them and they fit true to size. I have a big belly (around 40") and ordered a 2XL.
I really wanted to love these, but just didn't. I wish the waistband at the top was wider. The tiny, narrow waistband just annoys me and isn't comfortable. Also, I wish they offered a shorter version. Even the shortest ones are too long if you're wearing a short dress. They also just seemed pretty cheaply made, for the price you pay. I will not purchase again. I have cute yoga shorts that work better under my dresses. Wasn't impressed with their customer service either.

Shortlettes are generously sized to hug but not squeeze your curves. They are not compression and do not feel like nylons/hosiery, shapewear, bike shorts, or compression pants. Shortlettes are simply comfortable. They are not made to be tight, feel constricting, shape, pinch, or bind. The longer lengths allows for maximum chafe protection and comfort.
Correct Fit Guidelines:
✔️ Waist should not roll
✔️ Body should glide comfortably against the skin
✔️ Legs should not ride up while walking
Signs of Incorrect Fit:
✖️ Baggy crotch (too big)
✖️ Running at the seams/Wears to fast (too small)
✖️ Slides Down (too small)
✖️ Legs ride up (too small)
Which is the best fit?
Under 5'4" - High Thigh, Athletic, or Classic Styles
Plus Size - Fusion, Classic, or Original Lace
Apple Shaped - Fusion, Classic, or Original Lace
* Order the size in-between your waist and hip measurement. I.e. Waist 3X + Hip XL = Order 2X
Pear Shaped - Try them all!
Hourglass - Lace or High Thigh
Slender - High Thigh or Athletic
If the Shortlette is not baggy but slides down, it is probably a size too small. It needs to sit higher towards the natural waist in the back to stay put during normal activity.
